BEHIND THE SCENES: A DAY AT NEIMAN'S

BEHIND THE SCENES: A DAY AT NEIMAN'S

Hey everyone! The other day I had what I would possibly call the best day of my life. I was granted access to 'go behind the scenes' at Neiman Marcus. Or in other words, I sat in on a normal day of work at Neiman's headquarters. I bet you're all wondering, how? My countless prayers were answered and my mom is now an employee at Neimans! She is the Creative Projects Manager, meaning she works with all of the art directors, designers, copy writers, and photographers for the production of The Book(s) and all advertising and marketing material for Neiman Marcus. For all of you unaware of what The Book is, The Book is Neiman's version of a magazine and a new Book is released multiple times during the year showcasing women's and men's clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories. The Book is most famously released during Christmas; The Christmas Book has been printed since 1939 and is most iconically known for it's fantasy gifts, which were introduced in 1952. Some of the 2016 fantasy gifts included His & Hers Neiman Marcus Island Cars featuring Lilly Pulitzer Design which sold for a whopping 65,000 dollars each, which should give you a general idea of what a fantasy gift is. Anyways, my day consisted of watching designers in action, brainstorming sessions, and meeting many of the wonderful people that put so much heart into creating what brings joy and continued traditions in many's lives. Below, you will be able to see pictures of my view throughout the day and pictures of me working with two designers, Nicole and Stephen. Nicole is the Senior Editorial Writer, which means she writes the copy seen in The Book. Stephen is the Senior Designer for The Book; he is a graphic designer, meaning he designs the pages for The Book. I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I enjoyed my behind the scenes access at Neimans! Thank you to everyone at Neimans for such a warm welcome! I can't wait for my next visit.
Xoxo, Grace
